I have paid nearly £2000 by credit card as deposit for a holiday. I was charged £55 fees for this.
If I pay the rest by debit to avoid the fees, do I still have the extra protection a credit card affords over the entire amount (a further £3000) or just what I have actually paid on the card? Or should I just pay by credit card again and accept the £100 extra charges, is the protection I get worth this?

Paying the deposit with your credit card gives you the same level of protection under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act

As long as you spend a minimum of £100 on the credit card even if your holiday cost £5000 and want to pay remaining £4900 on debit card then you will be covered for the full amount.0

Not true!As long as you spend a minimum of £100 on the credit card even if your holiday cost £5000 and want to pay remaining £4900 on debit card then you will be covered for the full amount.
You can pay as little as they'll let you on the credit card (even £1 or less) and, so long as the purchase price is more than £100 (and less than £30,000), you will enjoy full section 75 protection on the full purchase price.0 -
