Security Lights law??

A neighbour has put up a security light outside their house which shines into my front room and bedroom it's just above eye level and a real pain as it shines in your eyes, is there any laws re this?

Maybe you should try talking to your neighbour about the problem. They may be able to reposition the angle of the light. Otherwise talk to your council, they may be able to clarify the position of the lighting nuisance law due in this month.

    Thank you
Tried talking to the neighbour but he did not to want to know, seeing as he lives in a flat that has a massive light outside I thought it was a bit over the top and too bright shining into my windows
  • Looks like the council or the Citizen's advice bureau are the next steps. Otherwise you may have to buy some blackout curtains. Hope the situation gets resolved.

You may be pleased to hear there is a new law against this sort of nuisance lighting that comes into force from April 2006

    Some info here

Why people don't just fit floodlights that focus downwards
rather than outward is beyond me :(
