Redundancy question

evergreen

My friend works for a firm that is closing down. She has worked there for 7 years. 3 years ago one of the 2 partners left the firm. At that time the remaining partner gave her a new contract of employment. Will she be entitled to redundancy pay for all 7 years or only 3 years. Be grateful for any advice.

Shouldnt make any difference i should think.
Her employment was continupus.
7 years redundancy and 7 weeks notice (a week for each full year of employment) assuming she is under 41.
Tell her to have a look at the ACAS site to confirm.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If there was no break in her service, then it should be based on 7 years0

As far as employment relationships are concerned, a partnership can have a change of partners but there is continuity of employment for the employees. Otherwise imagine employees of large accountancy firms (most of which are partnerships) would have new contracts every time a partner left or joined).
This is slightly different in that the partnership ceased entirely (if there were only two partners, one left and was not replaced) and the business became a sole trader. However, it is the business which is employing, so I agree that the period of employment is continuous over the 7 years. That should have been stated when the new written particulars were provided.0 -

What sort of help do you need? (You have already successfully posted a question!)
To the OP - it's 7 years and she should not allow anyone to even start to imply it is less.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
