Sky - Indemnity claim!!

Please help!! In the middle of JUne we received a letter from Sky to say they had received an Indemnity Claim for £133 from our bank and would we therefore send them a payment for this amount. We checked with our bank who stated that they hadn't put an Indemnity Claim to Sky and in order for them to do that we have to instruct the bank first, this we never did!! We informed Sky of this but they were insistant that they had sent a payment to our bank and we needed to refund it back to Sky. 2 months later and things are going from bad to worse, we were initially told that the refund to us was in the form of a cheque and were even given a cheque number!! However, since then Sky are adamant they do not send cheques and the payment would have been made electronically. We have told them we never received the payment and therefore are not going to refund the money back to them, we can prove this with our bank statements. Sky have been 'investigating' this for weeks, in the meantime they have switched our Sky box off and our phone which we have through them can only take incoming calls. Today we received a letter saying that all services will be cancelled, unless this money is sent to them, our debt will be transferred to a debt collection agency, they will take legal action and we will be liable to pay the remainding payments from our 12 month contract!! They still say they are investigating and have not sent us any proof to substantiate their claim that they paid this money into our account!! If it were the other way round and they said they hadn't received a payment we made, it would be up to us to prove the payment had gone through. Can they terminate our services before proving they returned money to our account??
