Amazon v Ebuyer delivery

I'm disappointed in Amazon. I placed two orders with minutes of each other on 6 August at about 5:20pm. On with Ebuyer and one with Amazon. Both free postage. The Ebuyer one was delivered on monday BEFORE Amazon had even dispatched my order. And the Amazon one was 3 times the cost of the eBuyer order. Amazon currently have an expected delivery of 15th.
Recently ebuyer seem pretty hot. I can't fault them for the speed of their free delivery. Pick by the next working day, deliver the working day after that.
On the other hand Amazon are pants. The free delivery time scales are 3-5 days *from* dispatch and Amazon are not picking and sending by the next day, so it takes even longer. The expected time for this order is 9 days.
Obviously if you got for free delivery then your not guaranteed next day, but with Amazon's picking speed even next day would not be next day. I'd expect to have to wait a few days but 9 is just ridiculous. And the expected date is a saturaday so that could be the monday.
So if you're ordering stuff from Amazon be prepared for a long wait.

or if you live in Northern Ireland and order something small....e.g. a sat nav...be prepared to pay Ebuyer £9.99 to deliver it for you...possible in 3 or 4 days....
Amazon...free...I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
amazon is fast if you do express delivery. it does say (Free) super saver delivery takes 3-5 days on the page, ive had good experiences with both tho, ebuyer do seem to have picked up the slack lately, doing next day delivery upto 8pm is quite good.0

supersaver delivery isnt just about the delivery
its about your orders priority
so had you selected next day delivery within the cut off period trhen it would have been prioritised and despatched sooner0 -
For the last year or so Amazon have sent my stuff really fast even with free delivery.
My last order a couple of weeks ago actually took the length of time they quote for free delivery but I was a bit miffed because all the other stuff has been really fast. I guess I've been spoiled a bit by the excellent service previously.
I don't think I've ever had next day delivery with supersaver but it has typically taken 2 days from order.0 -

yeah this actually winds me up quite a bit with ebuyer, and its also why i tend to use overclockers.co.uk a bit more as they send stuff about 20 minutes after my order (next day as they dont offer slower services).
ebuyers system just seems really corrupt as you order somthing with free delivery and they wait 4-5 days to dispatch the order but then use next day shipping...
if you order and pay for next day it gets dispatched the same day, i know they have to make a premium service but i just imagine if they can manage to send stuff the same day that theres people sat there doing nothing in the warehouse, it also puzzles me about the cost, since ive had parcels sent via citylink next day delivery after waiting 5 days for the order to go through and get picked, it must cost the same for the courier.
im sure other shops artificially slow down parcels as well not just ebuyer, but it really winds me up, and its why i always pay for next day delivery.

ive also had a nasty experience with amazon where i ordered a new dvd release on friday before the cut off period (ordered at 1pm'ish) and they didnt deliver the parcel on the saturday, when i phoned them they decided to lie to me and say i ordered too late, which was totally out of order, when the website said i had 5 hours left to get it next day with express delivery.
phoned them up again 30 minutes later and got the truth, then got a reply via email saying the lie again.
never got the postage refunded either. (the problem dvd was "the bank job" and i think they hadnt ordered enough in, so when they came to pick my order they had run out, apparently it sold very fast but i dont think it was a very good film anyway).0
