Lifestyle Europe

I have received an odd call from a "new travel agent trying to sell itself with this promotion" and lucky me, I am one of 10 couples selected every 6 months to receive a "cheque" for £599 to spend on one of their holidays. Their website is peculiarly protected - www.lifestyleeurope.co.uk - and only when I have physically visited somewhere in Walton on Thames (my "nearest" option which is actually 30 minutes away) will I get access by way of username and password to the site. I have to physically be shown their multiple properties around the world and make a "free" holiday choice. They say it's not timeshare but c'mon? I see under T&C that you have to attend a presentation whilst on holiday with no obligation but I am highly cynical. Because I wouldn't commit to a date for WoT, she is calling me back on Friday. Has anyone had any dealings with these people. If it sounds too good to be true... She kept telling me, "well done" and I in spite of myself, I kept saying "thank you"!

  • Dear Alynns, I too have received a telephone call from the same travel company about an hour ago with the same take. They want me to travel to Sale which is about 60 miles from where I live with my husband and we can only do it on a saturday (one of the days I usually work) she was very pleasant but I too am very dubious. This situation happened to me about 4 years ago same sort of scenario had to travel to somewhere to pick up your cheque and then you were given a no obligation talk!!! I am very sceptical about the whole situation and told the girl I really didn't have time for it. They called me when I was in the middle of making lunch for my children and I just smell a rat big style. Let me know how you get on when she phones you on friday as I have a feeling I will be getting another phone call at some point. When I have checked my phone they are very persistent they have phoned every day for about the last week!!! Probably to tell me my £599 cheque is waiting to be collected haha!!!

Probably technically true, but it will be something similar - eg a holiday 'club' where you pay megabucks up front for the 'right' to buy 'discounted' holidays which you could get cheaper in a travel agent.
  • Alynns - My wife has just received the same phone call, not sure how they got it tho'
"You are one the chosen few to have a won a holiday to the value of £599. Just ring 01702 608924 quote a Ref No. 1330269-698MK"
In my opinion (for what it's worth) You get nothing for nothing in this world.
Needless to say, we haven't rung the number and we never will even though I am tempted to call them, string them along and waste their time but, I don't have the time to waste their time.

I am amazed that I haven't had a callback yet? Yes, I too could only go on Saturdays "because she's stuck in the office Mon-Fri in Essex" (I think she said). Too odd and also that for such a limited UK offer, 3 of the 10 found each other very easily?! [Although with Martin's millions of users, I suppose 30% of the UK could be on this forum ]. If she calls back, it'll be a thanks, but no thanks. One annoying thing I meant to say was that they wanted to "clarify my details" that they said I'd given in a survey I'd never heard of. I said that if I'd given the details, surely they'd be accurate and was as stand-offish as you could be. Never got to the "total household income" question but it was close. Yeah, definitely going to give this "win" a miss!
  • i to had a phone call to say i was one of the chosen few to recieve £599 worth of holiday money also it was a southend on sea number, don t know how they got our number as we are x dir/ any how i ignored it thinking it was a con, a week later i got another call asking why i had nt got in contact and i was told it was a genuine offer, any how i phoned the number and was told i had to go to a demo on a sat urday in chelmsford, all straight forward until the letter arrived which had a certificate for £599, what did nt add up though was for an exclusive offer i also had 6 smaller voucher all for £599 to hand out to friends .alarm bells are ringing for a major scam

Good point, I'm ex-directory too. Funny thing is, if it's a scam, why does nothing come up when you Google it? Suspect it's just a really stupid marketing idea so not illegal but just annoying!
  • which puzzles me slighty, being an expert in saying no and walking out of places i m tempted in going along for the hell of it.trouble is it has to be a saturday and saturdays are football days

I'm booked to go on 5th September at 11am in Belfast. Anyone else going?!?!
  • I got a call from them also but it was like a "survey". They asked me loads of questions of which I remember a few:
"Are you a member of a holiday club?
    Do you have a timeshare?
Do you book your holiday on internet or use a travel agent?
Do you own a holiday home abroad?"
When I answered yes to the last one that seemed to cut short the survey. Hope this is helpful to someone or provides some clues to this company's intentions.

Yes, that's the first phone call. If you didn't answer yes to the last, you get the "I am delighted to inform you that..." speech and you then have to call a normal rate number. I checked that in case it was one of those £5 a minute phone call cons. Good luck Stevo! Come back and let us know all the juicy details. We'll be cursing if you get a free holiday in the Med but somehow, I think it's unlikely!
