FHN - Automatic Telesales Calls!

Afternoon all,

I have just received another annoying automated call from FHN.

When you pick up the phone you get a sales pitch about clearing your debts and are asked to "press 6" to speak to an advisor. The first time it happened I politely explained that I am a member of TPS and the operator said she would delete me off their list. She lied.

I am getting repeated calls and when I ask to speak to a supervisor they hang up on me!

Any suggestions as to how to stop these annoying automated calls?

Since you know who they are, I'd advise that you go to the Information Commissioners Office website (click here to go there, if you see what I mean) and log a complaint against them.

I've done this with a recruitment agency who kept contacting me even when I asked them on a few occasions to stop, and it worked. I'm yet to use it against the pain-in-the-rear that is BT, but they haven't driven me mad just yet :)

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Agreed. I am particularly annoyed that you are forced to listen to their rubbish automated sales pitch before you can even talk to anyone!

aw i love getting thezse sales calls. Mainly because i like to have a larf and mess with them.

Coiuple weeks ago I had one where an automated dialer called my (you can tell because there is a few seconds before a real person comes onto the phoneline). I asked why there was a pause and they told me it was an automated dialer. So I kept asking them questions about the automated dialer and where I can buy one and basically didn't let them get a word in. They hang up then.

There's loads you can do to mess with these people, i'd suggest you try it for a laugh :)
