Sorry, another newbie here too - what's a 'pinkie'?

Its what we call the No7 £5 off voucher ....... sorry, its a term that was invented a while back, and it's sort of stuck!;)
  • I'm getting all excited about this new possible glitch!
  • I have to say that I was only a lurker on the old Boots Grabbit main thread so I'm still mostly in the dark about "skinnies" and "pinkies" and "till spits" etc etc

At least that had a sticky list of terms I could refer to - now I'm just stuck! :rotfl: I know ACM and GWP but the rest I just guess at!

I will be so happy if the No7 vouchers are back on as i have run out of one or two things
and the mascara with gwp will be on my list.
Out on my travels i did see the old mascara gwp tin with a price of £6.50 on it. So for those of you who missed out last time and end up with pinkies coming out of your ears then it may be worth it for just £1.50 after voucher.

Purplebutterfly here you go. HTH Anthea

Pinkie - Name given to current No7 Till Spit
TS - Till Spit (Voucher given out with your receipt)
    SEL - Shelf Edge Label
GWP - Gift with purchase (Free Gift)
    GC - Gift Card
    PC - Parenting Club
    HC - Health Club
    AC - Advantage Card
    ACM - Advantage Card Machine

    WYB - When you buy
    WYS - When you spend
    PTS - Points
NSS - Non Store Specific (Eg. Pampers Coupons)

    P&P - Protect and Perfect
    MF - Max Factor
    TB - Ted Baker
    T&G - Toni & Guy
    RM/R&M - Ruby & Millie

AFAIK - As far as I know
    HTH - Hope that helps
IYKWIM - If you know what I mean
TIA - Thank you in advance

I, too, love YSL Faux Cils, but my fave cheaper option is Max Factor Masterpiece which is available in both waterproof and non-waterproof versions, (plus MF often do GWPs!).
    QUOTE]

I can second the vote for Max Factor Masterpiece - it's my favourite - although I haven't tried the YSL one.
  • Thanks hun - I will learn it now ;)

No problem I often have to check back myself so i had a list to hand. HTH. Anthea.
  • Well, back in the Olden Days (just before Christmas!) the SAs would give you a nice paper voucher, about the size of a £10 note, and that was worth a £5 discount off No 7 items. It was a lovely shade of pink, so was called a Pinkie. :j

Then we had blue vouchers (Blueys) and then something you could use on wrinkle prevention cream (Wrinkies), and then another sort of blue voucher (Blinkies) and so on.

At the same time, you would find that if you used a SS till, you would get a little paper voucher, a till spit, which was also worth whatever the £10 note size one was worth.

Then Mr Boots decided to cut down, and he stopped all the big vouchers, even at SA tills, and we all got till spits. But we still gave them names. The type which were worth £2 off hair products, were called Hairies, and then the last type were called Skinnies!! My favourite was the lavender coloured one which was called a Perkie (purple-ish!) :T

So we'll just have to wait and see what the saving is for. We know it's for No 7, but it might be (a) cosmetics (b) face items (c) body items (d) eye items (f) everything (g) Protect & Perfect only and so on!

But someone will come up with a name very soon. Then you'll find that if the SA forgets to give you your voucher, you'll say "Oh, excuse me, I haven't got my Perkie" and she'll look at you like you're mad! :rotfl:

Then you'll find yourself with shed-loads of stuff that you don't want/need, but you just have to get it! ;)

    Happy Bootsing!!

    xx

my local store has the old no 7 mens gwp on sale for £6.50 , i wonder if i'd be able to use a £5 no 7 voucher on it, it'd make a good stocking filler.

Last time No7 launched a new maccie (mascara) with an ES Palette freebie, the ES palettes sold out really quickly (within a couple of days in my Boots) so if it is any good, buy it ASAP, i.e. tomorrow.:j

If my maccie clumps, I use an eyelash comb to make it look more presentable.
