How to sell a Property without an Estate Agent

Hi
We are wanting to sell our house as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Has anyone ever sold a house without an estate agent? Is it easy enough?
Thanks in advance for any advice

It's theoretically easy, but if it's a quick sale you're after, you may find that (with current market conditions) a private sale is not the best way to go. I think if you want it to work, you've got to be prepared to put one hell of a lot of work in to promote the place. When push comes to shove, most vendors still find their properties by walking along the high street and going in to estate agents. Rightmove is the market leader on web advertising, but only accepts ads from estate agents.

The reality is that private sales over the internet are still relatively few, but this will hopefully increase with time.

there are many for sale by owner sites around and a lot of them a free to list.

There is a directory here https://www.ahomeofmyown.co.uk

Alternatively, you could try using one of these quick sale companies. These guarantee you a quick sale at the very least and some don't involve valuation fees! I had a quick look and the first website that came up was www.mpginvestments.co.uk - MPG Investments. Looked like a good company.

The quick sale companies will always offer you well below market price. Sometimes as much as 50% below market price. Beware.

Put a 'For Sale' board up outside your house as well as the internet. There are many people who drive around the area they are looking.

Make sure the'kerb appeal' is the best it can be. You never know, these people may ring on the spot, you are in, house sold.

Good luck.. I admire people who deviate from the norm.
