Scary stuff. I hope to be able to work again soon but it depends on my trip to hospital on 27th...... just need a miracle again there and I can get back to earning. Actually I miss working. Sad but true. First time in 30 years that I have been on benefits, how anyone lives on them long term I have no idea..... I would need MSE and a fairy Godmother I think so I take my hat off to anyone out there that has to do this.

Anyway here it is. The calculator did ask why no Life Assurance but I can't get any now having had the BC ....... can't afford it anyway :-) I feel better for having written it down and plan to tackle it all as soon as I have more money available.... any day now.

    Thanks x

Thanks katch, can you go interest only on the mortgage for a while to reduce it, it's a huge chunk every month

    Hi Linda,

Oh, how I wish I could have interest only, it would only be £450 ish a month I think. Nationwide have a rule that if you don't have 150K of equity then you can't have interest only, combined with the arrears that we have been desperately trying to get on top of (23K when we moved back in). In fairness Nationwide have been really good to me, they gave me loads of advice to ensure I got back in. Not sure how we have done it but up until last month we were paying £2051.12 a month....... I kid you not. My OH has worked his socks off.
We own one car, mine. OH really needs a van, he is a painter and decorator and keeps on being offered much bigger jobs but no van (he has a scooter at the mo) means he can't do them. Frustrating. We really should do this first to up our income but I feel guilty saving whilst we owe so much out to everyone.
No we don't have a water meter we have the rates paid DD every month, in fact thinking about it they don't get paid all year round do they? Actually neither does the Council Tax... oh I may need to revisit it.

I am being assessed next week for my benefits etc. If I am deemed as 'terminal' then they up my rate to more than £80 a week..... it goes without saying but I would rather just get back to my business. If they give me a terminal diagnosis then I will have to seriously llok at everything in a hurry. I do have a very good pension (currently 176K in that pot) so I would be able to do quite a bit I think.

Anyway, that's a lot of rambling for first thing in the morning. Off for a cup of tea. Thanks Linda for keeping up. I bet you wish you hadn't asked now x

  • Hi katch22!!

Just had a little read through your thread and love your humour despite all that you have gone through! It is great you are facing it all rather than burying your head in the sand!

I have only one small suggestion - not sure if it will be any use! How you contacted macmillan cancer support? They are geared to helping people in your situation and may be able to help? Not sure but may be worth looking into!

Look forward to following your story, have you sacked that script writer yet though? x x x x
    Thank you to all posters:beer:

    Hey everyone,

Not only have I now worked out that our Water Rates and Council tax are less than I thought per month, the Nationwide have now told us that our payment is £1022.95 a month not £1050 which was the estimate. Now I know it isn't a fortune but at least it's moving in the right direction. Added to that I slept all night, no hot sweats..... not a one. I think Tamoxifen must have been created by a load of ex husbands whose ex wives had BC.... it is the drug from hell but I seem to be getting used to it. Easy peasy.
Will update my statement of my financial mess over the weekend. Thanks for the replies. x

I have just one thing to say - you're a very brave lady and I wish you the very best of luck with ALL your problems. Your daughter must be very proud of you :A

Thanks once again for the replies. The 'daughter must be very proud of you' really got me. It's strange that's what I have said all along, I just want Jo to be proud of me...... weird or what?! Not sure she would approve of the debt but nowt much I can do about it now.

Determined to get my statement re-done. We have guests at the mo so later. I did what to ask what are Scratchcards that I keep on seeing mentioned and matching betting? Can I make any money without spending any? I suppose that's what everyone wants :-) Have a great day all x
