we got ours from ebay... it was a bargain and it's fab!

As long as you look at the feedback etc, then you'll be fine. We found a great seller who delivered it exactly when we wanted it... he even kept it an extra week for us when our house move was postponed.

I can't remember his user ID tho as it's going back about 18 months.. I'll try and find it out for you if you are interested?

Thanks so much for your reply. Ive been reading about buying beds and everyone says it better to go to the stores and try it out first. So i think i might give buying online a miss for now unless im 100% sure which bed i want. thanks again :)

We bought a superking size sleigh bed, with 2 x 3ft mattresses (zip and link) in dreams a couple of years ago for £1000.

We had to have zip and link, cost we would get a 6ft mattress up our tiny stairs!!! (the base was just do-able as it was in sections).

We bartered then, and that was pre-recession; so I suggest going to a bed store, lying on the mattress for a good while to see how it suits, then barter till you faint :rotfl: Good deals to be had for customers with cash

I can honestly say its the best nights sleep I'd had in years; that mass of bed allowed hubby to sleep like a sprawled out octopus without invading my space :j
    I'm a nutter :j

Trying a bed out in a store can only give you a very rough idea. You really need to sleep on a bed for a few nights to know for sure. There are some on line companies who give a 100% satisfaction guarantee (read their return policies though, because some charge for return postage). You will make huge savings on line.

Ikea do a lot of their beds in super king-size (200x180 cm), if you buy the mattress it is 2 x 90cm wide. Bedding needs to be continental sizing, (which is a little bit longer than UK sizes, but you can get away with UK stuff except for fitted sheets) but Ikea has well-priced bedding and linen, too.

D'oh, just realised this is an old thread. Expect OP has already bought her new bed!
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
  • My son has a super kingsize bed and wants some brightly coloured bedding for christmas...any ideas? everything I have found has been quite conservative and dull, I don't want to pay tons but doesnt have to be completely budget.

Super king size are the same for both UK and Continental sizes. However I'd stay away fromIkea, as the quality of their mattresses isn't all that.

As it is just for bedding, then Ikea might be a good place to look.

Next have some nice designs I have found in the past. They do tend to fade a bit after a while but guess most do.

The best ones I've got are Designers Guilds ones from outlet stores. They tend to be the ones that get left over as super king size is an odd size. Worth a look if you are in any discount places. I've bought them from the Home store at the Lowry Outlet Mall before.
