Connecting a DVD Recorder into a Wireless Network?

Options
I was walking around Dixons today and saw this DVD recorder with a USB connection on the front which can be used to download photos, videos etc onto the integrated hard drive.

I was wondering, if I connect a USB wireless adaptor to it to connect to my wireless network, would it work? I'm thinking that a USB stick would just be a collection of files being transfered from the stick to the hard drive. So, theoretically, if I used a USB wireless adaptor, I should be able to transmit wirelessly from my PC, through the USB adaptor to the DVD hard drive. I asked the specialists in Dixons and they couldn't say one way or another if it would work.

Anyone any idea if the set-up would work?

    I doubt it...

"the Easy HDD supports most self-powered USB mass storage devices, including USB keys and MP3 players"

wireless is more complicated than a mass storage device

this would not work, when you put a usb wireless dongle into a pc, your pc installs drivers for the wireless dongle to work, the hard drive on the dvd player is just a storage device, with no effective operating system on it,

I think you're looking for something like this

    http://www.dlink.com/products/DSM-320/flash-demo.asp
    http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318

It's a media player that's plugged into your TV, but with a wireless network connection so it can join your home PC Network. You can browse your PC's hard disk from the TV screen using the remote, then it'll stream your video's/music/photo's through the media player and output on the TV.

This one's a better spec. which can output in HD if you've got a HDTV...
The bonus is...because it wirelessly connects to your home network, it can also stream video from the internet through the TV, and download it's own software updates when required.
