Greenish tinge on steak!

    If it's not the iridescent greyish green tinge (very light and very see through) that meat with a high fat content has, I would be very very careful.

    If it's defrosted it could be freezer burn and I'd not eat it.

    I can't buy reduced meat as I've seen and heard too many things. At the end of the day I'd rather lose a few quid than make myself ill. I'd also complain to Asda - reduced or no it should be fit for consumption.

    Ive seen the green tinge a lot on processed beef slices etc...never done me any harm yet..that i know of :D

  • Thanks to everyone for your interesting varied replys.
    I was speaking to a friend today whos father was a butcher and she has told me that its perfectly safe to eat beef which has this iridescent greenish tinge!
    As quoted by Calley its the colour of peacock feathers and very see through.
    However ,I still couldnt quite bring myself to cook them ,so ended up doing a chicken roast instead !!!:doh:
    Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!

    hi what is cry vac it happens to some meats plus it does not smell as as well this dut the air has taken out hence these happing it is ok to eat but i agree take back to asda and complain buy you meat from a butcher
