Parking Ticket

Hello, I have recently been given a parking ticket for parking on a double yellow line. I think this was unfair as at the time my car was broken down (The tyres had been slashed)

I think its really unfair as I could not see the sign about the parking restrictions as I'm vertically challenged.

Is it possible to for me to appeal against this ticket?

If I do have to actually pay for the ticket does any one know if I can claim it against my expenses?

Hazel, sorry to hear about your trouble. I believe the parking attendant who put the ticket on your car made an "error of judgement", and will be apologising to you shortly.

    Don't rock the boat.

Can't you "flip" the road in which you were parked ?
  • You may find it amusing, however I don't. I will be losing my lucrative job next year and to top it all I have just had to fork out £13000 on an unexpected tax bill recently.

I don't want to rock the boat but surely there must be some way of over turning this ticket, it really annoys me as I hate paying for things out of my own pocket

Give them a cheque then bounce it like you did with the last one.

Bit of a long shot, but check your employment handbook - quite a lot of very senior positions give a good pay out even if you're sacked (and one or two give the same perks to the unskilled).

Reclaiming tax bill could be tricky - no chance if you're engaged in providing a standard (VATable) service. There is a loophole if your turnover is above the VAT limit and you are exempt from registration, but you may need to split the claim (could take up to 8 weeks on the unreceipted basis).

I'd challenge the ticket - if it's operational rather than policy, you could succesfully argue that it's somebody else's fault.

    Best of luck.
