Induction Hobs with 26cm pans

Am just about to buy a 4 zone induction hob and was surprised that most still have the 2 small + 2 large "ring" configuration - didn't really understand the need for small zones.
Anyway - longemail trailwith Neff came up with a couple of points
1) Don't put small pans on large zones - they won't work - 60% of the zone needs to be covered
2) Dont use pans larger than the zones - this would cause areas outside to get hot and this could cause the electronics to fail. Large zones are 21cm and I have some pans which are 26cm
Does anyone have any experience with either of the above issues causing a problem. Thanks

Nope, never come across a problem with either at all. In fact, if the above problems did affect induction hobs then this: http://www.aeg-electrolux.co.uk/node146.asp?ProdID=30197
or this: http://www.dedietrich.co.uk/productmodel.asp?db=Hobs&productst=Induction&productmodel=DTI853X&loc=UK
simply wouldn't be able to work.
You need to use a minimum size pan of 12cm though, and this is simply due to the fact that if it was any smaller, it wouldn't have enough surface area to heat up properly...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
