In July we went to a NEXT Home store and saw a sofa instore on sale, we asked to purchase it and was told we could take that one away or we could order a new one, we decided on ordering a new one and was told it takes 5 weeks.
Phoned tonight to check when NEXT would be delivering and was told they dont have the item in stock anymore and we wouldnt be getting the sofa:eek: we had recieved no notifcation of any means from NEXT and now we are sitting on the floor after selling our old sofa to make way for the new one......
Where do we stand with NEXT on this if at all ???
Can anyone give a good recommendation where to go for a decent sofa ???

It's a mistake. Everyone makes them. It's a pain, but no one died.
If they don't have a sofa, then they don't have one.
I guess you could choose an alternative from them?
Otherwise, what about the likes of Kirkdale, Sofa Sofa or Thomas Lloyd? Only trouble is, you can't try them out. M&S? But you might need a remortgage.0 -

The buyers remedies for non delivery of goods is set out in s.51 Sale of Goods Act here:

Have you paid for the sofa or set up an IFC?
Sounds like the item has been discontinued (probably from the sale in late July) or the supplier has been unable to deliver anymore, which happens on rare occasions with new lines or that delivery isn't anticipated for at least 10 weeks in which case they cancel the order
Its' strange that you were told that you could take the one on display away as generally only sale items would be sold like this or long long standing display items
I can't see what more they can do if they've refunded you aside from maybe a giftcard as a gesture of goodwill
If you have the P.O.S code then I could look into the delivery issue for you0 -

Sorry didnt make it clear it was a sofa that was in the sale, hence why we was told we was going to take the store one away, but we was talked out of it by the manager as we could get a brand new one for the sale price.0 -

O.k, this sounds strange.
They can't order a sofa that has gone into the sale to your address or the store. You can yourself order it online if there's any spare stock left. The manager or assistant has completely misled you.
Unless of course you mean a different sofa that wasn't in the sale but was the same price as the sale sofa.
I'm on a course so can't access our stock systems through work at the moment but it sounds a strange one0 -
I am slightly perplexed about what kind of resolution you want here?
You need a sofa
Next doesn't have a sofa that you want
Go and buy a sofa you want from somewhere else.
Next are not culpable for what their shop manager said to you regarding a previous store visit. You will just end up in a slanging match he said/she said etc. There is nothing you can do. Yes, maybe you were misled by the managers comments, but nobody has died so what exactly do you want next to do? apologise? give you a brand new sofa? a million pounds?
Vote with your feet and don't shop there again. TBH this thread would have been better in the Praise/Vent section.0 -
By the way Next found enough material to make the sofa we orginally paid for and we got the result we wanted - the sofa we paid for.......with an appology but sadly not a million pounds !0
