I believe over 70% of homes are owner occupied. Does this not suggest that homes are more affordable than ever?
What was it before Maggie let us buy our council houses at whopping discounts?

was half hoping i would get told its over, 'youll never buy (evil laugh)!', then i could resign myself to instead of trying to save, spending all my cash on alcohol to take round to others nice houses and cry about how ill never have one :D

....yes, i know, im a loser. but great dinner party entertainment. in a point and laugh kinda way. :o invites via pm please!

You sound like fun to have a party. Keep saving and one day a house maybe yours and you can laugh at the single wailing ladies :rotfl:

    thanks for replies :o:rotfl:

just to point out, im not usually that whingy. not that poor either i guess...

i think what i was trying to get into my tiny drunken brain, is that its all very well saying some people can never buy- thats fair enough, i do get that. but honestly, no one i know can buy here still (unless big inheritence/ bank of mum & dad)- not even tiny 1/2 beds. as for buying within your means- i get that too- would be more than happy to buy an ex council house on an estate for example. but yeah, i know, im just moaning on. i suppose its the pay off for living in a nice area- and too be honest i wouldnt swap here for a being able to buy a house in hull- for example :A- so i suppose i should just shut up :p

i just dont know who owns all the bl00dy houses here! if average hp is 10x more than average wage, and 85% of the towns housing is privately owned.....???? .....must be all old people :D

......so its not really a rich bloke a girl needs..... its elderly grandparents!

    Cynical mode ON, but ....

If you are set on leaping up the ladder, you need to maximise what assets you do have.

I knew a girl...nice enough, but not model level - she would say it herself.

She had her 'bottom drawer' sorted...knick knacks for her new house...and she meticulously researched where she would meet her future husband. She knew where the better off single men would hang out, what interests they had, and how to meet them in a social context, etc.

It might seem cold and calculating but it worked. She found someone with good career prospects, and family money behind him.

They married, and she got the exact new build house she desired, kitted out with all the new appliances etc.

If it doesn't work out, you can always dump him and take half after a couple of years.

Some will despair at this on here, but lets be honest...its been going on for years, and will continue to happen.

...or you could subscribe to a life of mortgaged debt I spose...

    I'm confused.

What assets are you talking about. As suddenly I'm interested.

She won't be interested in shared ownership Graham. Not a girl like that.

I'll give you a clue Graham, when Brucie said ...

'You get nothing for a Pair, not in this game'

HE had the wrong game.....you get plenty in the one I'm thinking of ;)
