how are these kind of prices still about? grrrr!

ok, sorry to be going back to basics here, but just for the sheer hell of it i searched my postcode on right move: 30 pages. clicked page 15 to get the scientifically accurate average :o house price in my area of £220k :D

please tell me, how this is still sustainable? average wage is under £20k here.

seriously, please, please explain where the money is coming/ will come from?

was at friends party at weekend (very drunkenly!) crying to her she had such a beautiful house... and i love her.... etc etc :D. she said 'there, there' -from what i remember- 'you'll have the same when you get to my age'....

NO, I WONT! her house is worth, id guess near on £500k. fair enough they probably paid a fraction of that 20 years ago, and earn £70-80k pa now, but they sure didnt 20 years ago?!

please tell me, where is the money coming from to keep these houses selling (i know theyre not selling as much as they were but they are still selling). no one earns enough money to keep this up do they? except from said friend above i dont know any other couple that even earn half that amount i dont think?

am i just really sheltered [STRIKE]chav[/STRIKE]? are there loads of well off people about who will keep the market going as before after this crash (seeing as its now over ;), seems a good time to ask :D)?

sorry to go on, and i know its all been said before, but where are all these rich barstewards then? why havent i bagged one? :A

The generic answer is the average wage does not buy the average house, it buys a starter home....which has recently been demoted to a bedsit.

My answer, is, its all boll*ks and you are quite right. Can I answer the chav bit?

Because you cry at parties and spend more time on here moaning about house prices than trying to "bag" a rich bloke?

    :D

so i guess the question was kind of, seriously, what kind of job do you have to be in to buy !!!!!!? yeah i know im just moaning and feeling sorry for myself but if the 'crash' is over then ive well and truly missed the boat... not that i was ever within distance of the ferry port anyway . i know anacdotal evidence is not fact, but its not just me, i concede i may not ever be home owner material then- but most people my age are in the same boat (or not in a boat at all- im confusing myself? :D)

bedsit is not quite accurate, the first few pages of that particular search were 2 & 3 beds...... parkhomes...... previously known as caravans

    and no, you cant :D

    The crash aint over :)

It's just been stumped by more debt....precisely what got us crashing in the first place.

Not many will actually be able to answer your question, just piddle around the edges of it, and that in itself gives you a good indication of why unaffordable houses for most cannot continue.

    which is?!

not about money, status or whatever. just about trying to get some sense of achievement and stability i guess, setting an example for your kids, showing them that there are options open to them beyond dole/ crap council house/ crap job/ depressing prospects.

might be easy in a sense to sit back and accept defeat in one way, but its not healthy is it? we all need dreams and ambition, i think.

that was a deep one wannit?! :A
