Online tyre sales

One thing you may want to consider is buying them (with alloys) from ebay.

May sound crazy but will explain.

Lots of people buy standard cars and then put whopping great aftermarket alloys on them (with new low profile tyres as required)

This means they then sell their brand new alloys (with brand new tyres) on ebay.

I recently purchased 4 shiny new alloys with top spec tyres on them with a good 8mm of tread on them for a couple of hundred quid. Paid thirty to get them balanced and fitted at a local tyre place.

Wife who has same model car spent £300 at a local national tyre place in mid range non branded tyres.

It is a bit complicated (and in my case wanted the alloys as well) but could save you a couple of hundred quid on a set of 4 wheels if you were to sell the alloys on afterwards.

That sounds like a grand idea!

  • I always find www.blackcircles.co.uk to be cheapest with fitting included.
    my car takes 205/45 R17
    cheapest at etyres is £78.90
Cheapeast at Blackcircles is £55.38 (Thats £92 cheaper over 4 tyres)
For premium range i always us Pirelli PZero Nero
at etyres they are £116 eacy
at Blackcircles they only £104 (£48 over 4 tyres)

    Although saying this www.camskill.co.uk
can supply budgets for £39.22 each
and Pirelli PZero Nero for £92.50 each
But this is only delivered, you will have to take them and get them fitted
which still works out cheaper than both of the above hence why i will use Camskill when my next 4 need changing :)

Another source for tyres online is www.mytyres.co.uk they have some of the more unusual but good performing brands such as Marangoni and Vredestein.

I used www.tyreshopper.co.uk last time and had them fitted at National Tyres.

    They had very good prices.

I think they company might be the online brand of National but cannot confirm.

I used them in March this year - a very good deal. On 4 tyres I saved £112 than cheapest I was quoted elsewhere online or offline, and fitted while you wait. No long wait for tyres either - got them the next day.

    It's only a game

  • i managed to get two imaculate OEM wheels with almost new Michelin pilot exalto tyres for £165. Not bad considering the tyres are £178 each @ black circles.com

Got another two Falken tyres fitted on the rear at Farmer Autocare who price matched bc.com who even moved my TPMS valves around for free.

All in all i am a happy man

I used Tyre-Shopper a few weeks ago after seeing them mentioned on this site. It was most puzzling ! I checked a few of the online sites for the tyres I needed, tyre-shopper was the cheapest ( comparing exactly the same tyre, the same brand and everything ). So I thought I'd phone a few local tyre places to see if they could do it cheaper. The cheapest local place wanted £75 per tyre, compared to £50 per tyre on tyre-shopper ( again, for exactly the same tyre ). So I said "No thanks, I've seen it cheaper online" The chap said "Is that on tyre-shopper ? We're the fitting centre for them". So I bought on tyre-shopper, printed off the voucher and took it down to this place, no hassle whatsoever. How does that work ? The exact same tyre, supplied and fitted by the same garage, £25 cheaper just by booking it online rather than in person ? Seems daft to me, but I'm not complaining !
  • they maybe get a bigger commision from tyre-shopper than than they would normally make in margin on the sale of the tyre.
