Not all that good on SOAs but, I would leave the school meals and argue it. Your daughter has a special diet and needs it - its not a luxury.

Your house ins looks high. Is this contents and buildings?? You will only need contents when you get round to moving so it will reduce eventually. Have you used all the comparison sites for this quote though??

Do you have a will made? I know its little to do with SOA's but you are divorcing/BR and have a daughter. You need to sort one out afterwards. (Current issues are showing me just how important this is!!)

If you go BR, the shortfall will be included in your BR anyway so don't worry about budgeting for it. It wont affect you as you will never pay it.

And your BR will go through - it rarely does not (unless you have not taken professional advice like CCCS or Payplan etc), so dont worry about that either (although this one is the difficult one, especially when you are standing in front of the judge!)

Insurance is high, automatic renewal whilst I was away on holiday earlier this year. In all honesty though I could have (and will look into cancelling this) Will use comparison sites and will need to check if there are penalties for cancellation?

A will? I've got sweet fa to leave anyone! I should look into guardianship and the like. After all I never dreamt 12 months ago I would be contemplating BR so just goes to show anything can happen.

What defines taking professional advice in the view of the courts? I had a 30min conversation with CCCS yesterday (also have soon to be killed off DMP with them). How would I need to prove I have received such advice?

No - you don't need to prove anything. The judge will ask and any chat with CCCS with suffice. The judge just needs to know that you have taken things seriously and that you understand the full implications of what being BR means.

Man alive- are the implications apparent to me. I even dreamt about BR last night!

    Hi Dollparts,

The normal way to account for a business expense which is also a private one is to apportion the amount. You would need to decide how much of your car use is for business and how much is for private, and then divide the premium by that. So, if you decided it was 75% business and 25% private, then you would deduct 75% of the £122 (£91.50) from your earnings before stating these and then put the remaining £30.50 in your SOA. You would do the same with petrol, car tax, phone etc.

Of course, the net total would be the same, as although you are knocking down your expenses on your SOA, you are also knocking down your income - its just it would probably be easier that justifying car insurance of £122 per month. :)

Thanks for that Tim, I will go over the business expenses again. Must admit I hadn't included petrol and phone either, just lumped them all in the SOA. Blimey I hate maths at the best of times. Much appreciated though. Am very grateful.
