Parking 'fine'

Hello everyone I hope someone can give me a nugget of help!
I've read through pages of discussions and the guide but I'm still unsure what to do!
I was at a friends at the weekend and the only parking availible was a small car park on the road, so thats where I parked it was after 9pm I should point out.
I came out later to find I'd received a 'Parking Charge Notice' as the paper says.
I was pretty shocked considering where we were I did not realise it was a 24hr car park. (surely you only expect those in city centre's!)
In my defence there was no lighting in the car park and I could barely read the signs if I tried they want me to pay £50 or £100 if I don't pay within 7 days.
Overall the 'ticket' look legit, but Im pretty annoyed and a bit worried about getting the phone calls as it is most likely my dad will be the one answering the phone. And all in all I can barely afford the £50 let alone £100.
Anyway Im assuming I will get a similar response to 'Ignore it' but i wanted some reassurance before I do so.
Oh and there is only one date on the ticket the issue date, not Contravenance date.
Hopfully I hear from someone soon! Thankx!
PS Im new to the forum I don't have any idea how to make this a thread!

Was this a council run car park or a private one? It makes a difference.
Underneath the bit that says START HERE is a bit that says New Thread, press this and enter the details.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Thankx for doing that for me! I only just found this after searching a bit!
Anyway
It is definately a private car park as the ticket mentions the LTD company name.
Hopefully that helps!0 -
I usually send a private message to people whose threads I split out/move, apologies if you didn't get one.Thankx for doing that for me! I only just found this after searching a bit!

As you say it's a private company, just make sure that they aren't working on behalf of the local council (NCP for example do contract work for some councils).
Once you've checked the ticket for that then file it away, together with the 'reminders' (and threats) you'll no doubt receive in due course. Only take notice if genuine court papers are issued (this doesn't usually happen unless people identify themselves to the PPC and incriminate themselves).0 -
Ok I will be brave and ignore it!
I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with the council, there is no mention of it on the ticket itself, and states at the top:
'Parking enforcement on private land and unregulated public car parks'
Thankx for giving me the vote on confidance I need.
I will check back if I need any more help
