Please Help Me! Its about Amazon.

Hey All :)

Well, I'd just like to know how much of a cut Amazon Marketplace take off you when you're putting you're things up on the Marketplace, I'm trying to make some cash, and Amazon seemed like the perfect place.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Cheers
Matt :beer::beer:

    HI Matt
Individuals selling at Marketplace pay a GBP 0.86 per item completion fee, plus a closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (11.5% for Electronics & Photo items) for each item sold.

you should check out the page here -amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=3149301

you should also check out this page for all the info relating to the marketplace

    Here you go:

eBay might be a better bet if you want the money any time soon; stuff can sit on amazon for months.

When it says 'Closing Fee' , I assume that means if you want to take off your product from the Amazon Marketplace?

    Cheers

    Hi Matt
well, I've been selling books on Amazon for 3 years - I've got about 100 books listed with them and sales have totally dried up - but here's a rough guide - say you put a book on there and priced it at 0.01p - you'd end up with £1.44. You have to take into consideration postage after that - if the book won't go through the post office slot measure thingy - then it's a parcel - MUCH more expensive to send. Amazon only pass on £2.75 (UK mainland book rate or £1.21 for CDs) from the customer to you - some books can cost £5 to send of course - but they don't give you any more.
On the plus side it costs nothing to list your item - and it seems to be on there until sold. But they do charge a fee per book (I've looked for you - funny, can't find it - think it's about 0.86p) plus a percentage of the final cost and they deduct vat on the postage!
Before the credit crunch I was selling 30 books a month - last 6 months - zero.
But if you have good things to list and they're in demand, you may just be okay - bit like Ebay!
    Good luck with it!

PS Closing fee is what they charge you to sell the item - just like a "commission" on Ebay.
  • Just out of interest, do you guys know how much it costs to start PlayTrade on https://www.play.com aswell?
