we have just had a quote from southern gas to move our outside gas meter less than 2 metres to a place further along the outside wall.. £751. this seems an awful lot of money considering it's not complicated according to the engineer who came to assess the work needed:confused: is there a cheaper way of doing it? can a gas safe registered plumber or gas installer do it or do we have to have the transporter?

no a gas safe registered cannot do this as 1. the pipes are owned by southern gas net works 2. they are not qualified to do so 3. if they did do it they would be breaking the law
