E-bay help please.

Hi,
I am new to E-bay and today have sold a Nintendo Wii. When i went to check posting details i have found that the buyer is in Spain. I thought my settings were to the UK only. I am not going to sell to this buyer and have sent a message telling them so. I have issued a second chance offer to the next highest bidder. Do i have to cancel the original winners bid in any way ? And is there any come back for not honouring the original sale ?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Sally

You can't cancel the winning bid, you can explain to the buyer and file a mutual agreement to withdraw the sale and hope that the buyer agrees to it.
You are liable for negative feedback and a strike for not fulfilling the sale.
If it was an error on Ebay's part and the buyer should not have been able to bid or the buyer was registered in the UK and had a Spanish address listed then you may be able to get the tranaction cancelled by contacting Ebay.
I've had a few buyers who have a Spanish address and also a UK address, so you may have been a bit hasty offering a second chance offer if you didn't wait to hear back from the buyer.

If you have decided you want to sell it to the person in Spain with higher P&P costs you might have the problem that the person you offered the second hcance offer to might also want it. Then you'd be sellign two wiis which would not be possible if you only have one - you might become a NPS

The buyer in spain will be in there rights to give you a negative. Which unless you sell more than 20 items a month could seriously effect your selling account. So you need to be very careful with your negotiations with the spanish buyer.

Why don't you send a POLITE email to the spanish buyer explaining to them that it was a UK only auction, so you were expecting them to have a UK address. You could always get a quote to have it shipped to spain, but make sure it's tracked and insured.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you are sending to Bolton, the payment address in Paypal MUST be that address - no excuses by the buyer. And make sure you send it fully insured and trackable.

So i am presuming if not sent to the paypal address im not covered if anything goes wrong. Is this a problem if i am insured by RM ? Sorry to ask if this is a dumb question.

Correct, you are not covered and the buyer could easily do a chargeback. It doesn't matter if you have a signature from Royal Mail, it is still not the same address as Paypal said you should send to.

Paypal would take the money back, RM would not compensate you as they have done their job and delivered it.

    Do not risk it.

If your buyer is genuine, there is no hardship at all in changing the address to send to in Paypal. And make sure you send it Special Delivery or another trackable - and fully insured to the value - service.
