Viewing a webcam - how many megabits does it use?

My friend is renewing her marriage vows in Las Vegas next week and there is a webcam at the venue. However I'll be away at my flat, and on BT Total with a 10mb per month download limit, so I was wondering how heavy the mb usage is when viewing a webcam. I know it uses a fair bit to view video clips, but that might be the downloading not the actual viewing. As the webcam is live, it isn't really downloading - or is it?

Thanks for any advice.

It's streaming, but viewing any web page involves using data both up and down. Downloading it just means that you do it all in one lump.
I don't think a 10 min ceremony on webcam is going to exhaust your monthly allowance though.

10MB, are you sure? Isn't it more likely 10GB?

10mb? Surely 10gb?!? You should be fine unless you are streaming for a long time. I would think 60mins would equate to 350mb depending on the bitrate.

:o I think I probably do mean 10gb. It's all just terminology to me :o.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll go for it then.

There's a thread here which lists some free software you can install which will show you exactly how much data you are sending/receiving.
