Normally when i type in an web site into the address bar I just totally clear it and tap in the address, but now it will not let me do this without typing in http:// which was always automatically there. Has any one any idea why ?

if that doesnt work;
download your web-browser from the internet, delete your current one and install the one you just downloaded0 -

For this answer I'm assuming you have Windows XP and Internet Explorer. Open 'My Computer' then click 'Tools' then 'Folder Options' then click the 'View' tab and make sure the box next to 'Hide extensions for known file types' is unticked. Then click OK.
Now go to your desktop. Right click on a blank space and click New then Text Document. Rename the new file to "http.reg" without the ""
Now right click the file and click 'Edit'
Copy the text below between the
but the
then paste it into the http.reg file then save the file. Once you have done this close the http.reg file then double click it. It should come with a message saying are you sure - click 'Yes' then it should come up with a message confirming the entries have been added to the registry. That should sort your problem out - if it hasn't try restarting the computer and then try entering an address again. After you have done that Open 'My Computer' then click 'Tools' then 'Folder Options' then click the 'View' tab and make sure the box next to 'Hide extensions for known file types' is ticked. Then click OK.
Hope that helps.

Edit: There should not be a space in CurrentVersion - dont know why it has appeared!0
