avg antivirus

hello all
need some help have downloaded avg for daughters comp after norton free trial ended,eversince loads of probs with unusual things happening and loads of viruses any ideas

AVG used to be the best free AV program available but it has been bettered by others these days - Avira and Avast to name but two. I use Avast as Avira gives false positives on a program I have been using for years with no issues.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum on the topic of removing nasties if you have an infection.

Use the Norton removal tool

Its posible that if youve installed AVG WITHOUT removing norton first then AVG isnt working properly in which case ~

Use the 32 bit AVG removal tool
http://www.avg.com/download-tools

Then/Or ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds


reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

Once your clean then install whatever anti virus your going to use (Id advise AVIRA personally)

depends

If you think its not working properly then yes ~ use the removal tool

If you think its ok then leave it until the machines clean. THEN you might want to consider a different anti virus

You dont say WHAT your scanning with. But assuming you mean AVG then dont bother. UPDATE and run a scan with MALWAREBYTES

I used to have AVG....but both my laptop and pc were running really slow on that, so got avira and its great!

I used malwarebytes as advised on here, then installed avira and ive had no problems since

Also, if you are using firefox, try upgrading to google chrome, ive been using it for a couple of weeks and seems to load pages up a lot faster
