can someone help please? need advice

i have a student account with halifax and have just gone over my overdraft by £8. This has happened after i made a £10 payment to my student credit card 2 months ago, realised it hadn't gone out and still wouldn't after many trys. So i paid with another card and now it has all of a sudden come out of my account and halifax are trying to charge me £76 for £8 over my overdraft!!!! I went into my branch and explained that i'll just put £10 into my account to get it back into the black and couldn't afford the charges. Guess what, they won't do anything because i had another charge over a year ago waived for being £1.91 over my overdraft!

has anybody got any suggestions for how to get rid of this charge? Even the lady in branch agreed £76 was extortionate for going over by £8!

the first charge goes on the 13th of august so any suggestions before this would be greatly appreciated!
