dc7900 Best Graphics Card?

G'day

Just purchased a dc7900 and want to upgrade the graphics card to something decent for games. I have a budget of around £100.

Looking at the specs it isn't PCI Express 2.0 compatible so I don't think I'll get much benefit from buying one of those?

Also, checks online imply it doesn't support full height cards and I need a low profile card?

I've checked the compatible cards listed at HP and they all get poor reviews for gaming, so any suggestions would be appreciated, ta

i have the ati radeon hd3650 in one of my older setups that the parent now use

its never going to win awards for gaming but it runs modern mid range games just fine for a sub £100 card

my younger brother plays left 4 dead, fear 2, command and conquer(all off them), supreme commander, sims 3 and a few others usually on 1600x900 with most textures on high with very little issues

maybe supreme commander is the one exception and when there are lots of units(which he likes) it can be very demanding even for higher end cards.

like i said, these are by no means the most challenging games but they run fine

plus that card is in the compatibility list so you know its going to fit

what exactly to you plan on playing?

Mostly WOW and games like Command & Conquer, I've plumped for Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT which doesn't cost the earth and should world. Thanks :)

I got a low profile card about 6 weeks ago. also bare in mind psu restrictions as some cards take a lot of power and heat

Had to replace the back of the card with supplied bracket for low profile

Daughter plays sims 3 on it, works fine at 1280x1024

I forgot to say the card I mentioned does need a spare molex connector from psu there usually a couple spare. The pc had a small case so room was sparse but it fitted fine, 15 minutes work to fit in all and comes with vga and dvi brackets
