reclaim disaster!

Hi, I am new to this forum but I felt I had to get this off my chest. As my username suggests, I am a financial nightmare. If I can make a bad financial decision, I will. I don't intend to, but it happens. I take full responsibility, I am reasonably intelligent and know what I am doing most of the time. However, when it comes to money, I am a disaster.
The latest (in a long list) is I have recently been claiming credit card charges/PPI charges via a company called "The Claims Guys" who then forward it to a company called "i-smart".
I read all the stuff through, I queried a few things and all seemed fine. One of my queries was that it said in the blurb something like either payment comes to me by cheque, or to them or a refund into the account. I queried that if it went back into the account i owed then I would still owe the claims people (25% plus VAT) and that I wouldn't be able to afford to do that. I was assured on the phone that I would get a cheque and then I would send them their cut. Surprise! I now have 2 bills so far for their cut as barclaycard have agreed an amount and will pay it back into that account. There will be more to come.
I know I should have come to this forum and done it myself but I thought, as a single working parent, I didn't have the time. And as I am on a DMP (told you I was hopeless, even the DMP isn't going well) I have so many letters flying around that the thought of someone else doing the claiming for me seemed great!
Any words of encouragement would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you deejaywilbs. After reading some of the threads/posts it appers I am not the only one to get things wrong. As difficult as it is when people have financial problmes, it's sort of comforting to know it's not only me. I have emailed i-smart. The problem is that as I am on a DMP my accounts are in arrearsI guess. I am happy if the money from the claims goes back into these accounts but I didn't realise I would be saddled with more bills! I shall wait and see what they say.0

You'll be lucky to get a response."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
