Thomas Cook Worldwide Vouchers Not Refunded!

I booked a holiday with Direct holidays (a branch of Thomas Cook) using the Thoma Cook telephone service.

Part payment of over £1000 for this holiday was made in holiday vouchers. The sum was debited from our account as agreed with the understanding that the voucher amount would be refunded.

We sent them vouchers to the address requested and 3 months later there has been no refund.

We have contacted the company several times by phone and in writing. We get sent from one deparment to another and are promised call backs which are not recieved. The issue is now supposed to be being handled by the Accounts department but no-one will provide a direct telephone number and they have not called us back despite recieving several requests.

What are our legal rights in this circumstance? What can we do?

  • Difficult one - if you're not getting a response from them, try contacting trading standards. Did you pay by credit card? In this case you could try a chargeback?
