Fuel spill- HELP!
Hi guys,
I went to fill up diesel in my new car on Friday and accidently spilled a few drops on the car. I didn't have anything to wipe it off so thought I'd sort it out once i get home. Then I totally forgot about it. I noticed it this morning and almost fainted with the realisation that diesel is highly corrosive. I quickly washed it off with water and soap. It doesn't seem to have caused any damage to the paint work.
I just wanted to know if I need to do something else and whether that area will corrode later. I'm really quite worried given that its a brand new car.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers!

It shouldn't cause any problems. Diesel oil is just that, oil.0 -
Really? I always thought that diesel can actually cause signifcant damage to the paint work if left for too long. Quick search on google got me this

I've spilled diesel all down the side of the car before and just left it. It seems fine.0

And here's another article from the same ehow site that starts of by saying...
"Diesel fuel won't do much damage to a car's paint,"
They cant both be right can they?0 -

Inside the fuel filler area of my car the paintwork has been exposed pretty much continually to diesel for the last 14 years. The paint work is fine.
I think the website you quote is just plain wrong.0 -
The person that wrote that article has also written another entitled "How to hypnotise animals".
Similarly, if I needed an animal hypnotising, I probably wouldn't ask a car valeter...0
