Sanyo Exacti E6

I loved using it, in fact when going to family events this holiday season, it was the one I grabbed for my personal photos. Its small size allows it to be carried just about anywhere, in just about any size pocket or bag. And with good image quality and blazing fast performance, you're sure to capture those special moments. So if you're in the market for an ultra-compact 6-megapixel model, be sure to grab up a Sanyo E6.

I forgot to mention. It has a 3 inch screen too. The biggest screen on the market I think, expecially in such a compact camera.Marillion - A Better Way of Life.0

Cheers..
I may buy this and sell my sony as this smaller size is ideal for meBe nice0 -
I have been looking at the image quality, but it suffers badly from noise
Check out http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/gallery/Sanyo-Xacti-E6

For short.. look at this image
http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/gallery/Sanyo-Xacti-E6/Sanyo_E6_ISO_400?full=1
The last camera I bought was a Sony W5.. and the images on that 5.1MP are much cleaner...

Hardly fair comparing the ISO 400 shot from the Sanyo with ISO 100 shots from the Sony is it? The higher the ISO rating the more likely you are to get noise problems.
Also the Sony produces less noise by throwing away image detail. "The Sony DSC-W5 does a good job of holding image noise in check as the ISO (light sensitivity) is increased, but it does so by trading away subject detail in areas of subtle contrast. This means that shots at ISO 400 are rather soft-looking (although probably acceptable to many users) when printed at 8x10 inches, but look fine at sizes of 5x7 and below."

In both pics, the Sony seems a lot cleaner..
Are these not good indicators? To me they look worrying
I do want a slim camera and the Sanyo would be perfect if the pics are up to scratchBe nice0 -
I agree with last poster the sony images seem more to life and very clear where as the sanyo ones grainy can someone else confirm this.
Nice camera shape and also massive tft screen,0 -
Yes i agree pictures dont look too hot if you look at the picture from the Sanyo website it dosent look very good either http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/products/vpc_e6/image_sample/images/SANY0182.JPG
The trouble with these cams with built in lens is they have small sensors and cant get enough light in compared to lens that come out of the body so produce more noisy images, however its only £105 so you should compare to models in the same price bracket not with more expensive cameras0 -
I had the vpc-c1e model as a video camera it took cracking photos aswell though.0

T3 loved it though

But quite a few other sites didntTho they compared to Sonys that are still £300.
The Sony I compared it to cost me £140, but was supposed to be a bit more.
Im still not sure whether to risk it. A thinner camera means you are more likely to take it with you, and therefore a half decent pic is better than none at all
I then looked at what other small cameras they have on the ebuyer site and saw the Ixus I5. Had a quick look at the pics on that also, and they seem up their with the Sony (although you lose the big screen, but its even dinkier than the Sanyo, but £35 more.
Compare the pics

I find it shocking that the Sanyo looks so grainy, considering its a shot that cant be blamed on distance, or outdoor light etc etcBe nice0 -
Hmm. I've been going through a load more reviews now. I usually just use Steves Digicams because he's always pretty thorough.
There's a lot of disparity between the opinions of the various review sites. Some say image quality is excellent, others say very noisy.
What to do, what to do........
Think I'll have to check out the alternatives.Marillion - A Better Way of Life.0
