Slow ITV teletext plus rescanning

For several weeks now, we've noticed that to use teletext on ITV can be hard work as the pages sometimes take ages to load or disappear back to normal screen without pressing exit.

This is not the case with BBC

The facts:-
*I've tried changing the remote batteries but that made no difference.
*We are located in Northants.
* The TV is a Panasonic Viera

As an aside, several times each week, we are greeted with the grey box telling me to rescan as a new station has been found which I do.

When we use our DVD recoder (again Panasonic), that too can throw up the rescan box.

On the odd occasion when I go through all the channels (out of boredom), I see obscure channels have arrived, channels I could live without, but if I didn't rescan, no doubt this box would present itself every time I switched the TV on. Any comments please?.
