Do you mean an extra £20k or a salary of £20k?

To be honest Helen I do not ever want to work as an accountant......I am a teacher and cannot see myself doing anything else.

If you are happy as a teacher then don't bother putting yourself through the accountancy studies. Only freaks actually enjoy it. I saw it very much as a means to an end.

I had been working in accounts when I had my children and decided to run my own business, my OH lost his job and came in with me which was a mistake, various things hit us including Foot & Mouth & we were earning less than £5k pa for a family of 5 people. Needing to earn money fast I got a job in accounts again in 1997 earning about £10k which gradually crept up to about £13k when I decided that rather than stay on this forever I would bite the bullet and do the exams. It took me three difficult years but I qualified in 2002 and am now earning £34k.

It isn't my dream job but I do enjoy the security of having more money coming in than going out (I'm absolutely with Mr Micawber on his definition of happiness).icon7.gif

I dont think that I could cut it as an accountant to be honest, I think general book keeping is more with in my capabilities:o

Feeling really sick of everything today, students have really got on my nerves today. I also feel very ripped off with the pay band I am on as I am doing over and beyond what is in my banding our department is in a total shambles so I cannot see me being moved up any time soon.

    Maybe wine will help.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

He is feeling better just in the knowledge that someone is actually doing something. The infection seems to be responding to the Anti Bs which is making him feel more comfortable.

Ahhh I will be fine, just having a bit whinge, this is the only place that takes a blind bit of notice to my troubles.

You see I am the one who can handle anything, who everyone else leans on, who asks for no help from anyone like I would get it anyway if I asked.

What I am trying to say is..............this is the only place where I am heard :o

Off to have a bit cry in my wine glass now.........God I am such a drama queen.
