Phew! That was a long half term..........

One week without students will be bliss. I am going to take Monday and Tuesday off to study and catch up on housework but going in the rest of the week to get ahead with planning as I have just been informed that I will be observed week beginning 16th Nov.

I am really worried about it as I think that there are high expectations from me *gulp*

    Buffy..........any tips??

Good news on the special pay award which I eventually have been granted and will be in my October pay backdated to Sept:j

Just sat enjoying gardeners world, then Benidorm with a nice glass of Merlot.

    Hello love xxxx
ok, well if possible do a practice run with another class, does your place have criteria? do they grade lessons?

so if they do look at the critria and match to it, what are you teaching?

In our place we have to show - pupils making progress, they must know explicitly how they are going to make progress themselves and their current level - if you don't any of that here (or if the kids don't answer the questions clearly enough) then you lesson fails which is ridiculous!

Ahem - sorry that was more about me then helpful for you!Sorry two glasses of wine.:o

    I would

-have an engaging starter (picture?sum? problem to solve)
    - have a main task with guidance for any SEN kids (do have them? and have you do that??? do you "set"? am not sure?)
    - have an extension task for brighter kids.
    - try to make sure the kids are learning by themselves - it is not teacher lead learning but child focussed something like that, so they are investigating and using new skills? and you aren't telling them alot (which is always difficult cos the thought of them sitting there with the special "not getting it look" is really enough to keep you awake at night! )

I have found the Book Pimp your Lesson really helpful and those 100 lists for teachers on amazon good too.

I am typing all this but am quite drunk so I am sure you know all this and so I will be back tomorrow with better ideas

    Love Buffy xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Yeah, great news all round. Well done :)

Cheers Lennypops, I am really going to make the most of the rise and stick it on the mortgage.

OH and I were talking about how we want the next 5 years to pan out......

Pay off mortgage in 3 years
Do house up over 1 year (it really does need loads doing to it)
Live in it for another 2 years or so then sell up and downsize to release some equity for the pension pot:D

Of course........plans have to be plans as who knows whats around the corner:confused:

    Thanks for that Buffy xx

We do have graded lessons and I have the criteria for each grade.

Problem is my lessons are 3 hours long:eek: the observer can come in at any point, also I only get a 3 day window so literally it could be any lesson day or evening within the window.

They are pretty hot on student led learning at the moment but not sure how I can do that with accountancy classes:confused:

I might pick your brains nearer the time when I know the possible sessions as they all differ so much.

Ironic thing is that I have also been approached to be on the observation team (after training of course) hence the pressure:rotfl:

From a grade 1 teacher such as yourself I am sure you have the best ideas:D;)

I am absolutely furious with A&L I became overdrawn by a measly £1.28 so I transferred £20 in with the intention to close the account......

They have now charged me a £25 "review fee" for going overdrawn which they had taken out of my account without telling me so now I am overdrawn still and have been for 11 days.................costing me £5 a bloody day so another £55 in charges:eek::mad::eek::mad:

    For £1.28

    *cries with temper*

If you're going to downsize, it's best to do it in the middle of a boom, rather than in the middle of a bust. Upsizing is, of course, the other way round.

Phone them up and tell them you want it back. If they refuse, ask for their complaints procedure.

It's the banks last hurrah before the charges thing comes to a head.

I am going to ring on Monday, I am having a good old sort out day and that will be on the top of my list!

Second on my list is to streamline all my banking as I have accounts all over the place I need to simplify things as I just dont have the time anymore to check various accounts every couple of days.
