Disclosing Full Names & Ebay User Names On Their Website

Is there anything I can do about this. This person has a table on their website disclosing my name and user name on ebay several times. I don't feel pleased about this.

Have you emailed the guy who owns the website to ask if he could take off your username if you are that fussed about it?

I will probably get slated for saying this but looking at the guys website he seems to me to be exhibiting the signs of someone with Aspergers, he has what appears to be a compulsive need to categorise and list everything in his life, he may not have any malicious intent or be aware that listing your name on his website in the manner that he has as being unusual.

Having looked a bit further at his website he has his life story there as well which leads me to believe even more that he does have Aspergers.

Sarahg1969 - What about people like me reading this info whose CRB is certainly NOT clean? Why dont you send him all YOUR personal info so the government approved person can display it for all and sundry to see.
  • Personally I would not worry - how many people are actually going to look at that website and READ everything?

It's not nice to disclose peoples name but I certainly would not be too upset about it.

As far as I can see, although his website is unusual and certainly displays indications of a 'condition', the only reference to Ebayers is what he's bought from them. So as long as you haven't sold anything you shouldn't, I can't see why it's an issue for you. Any ebayer buying or selling from you can find out your real name anyway - and any any ebayer NOT buying or selling from you would have very little need to!
No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!:D

    Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target :(

It would be an issue for me. I choose to have my details on ebay. The OP has not chosen to have his name appear on this website.

I'd be more concerned that this individual is keep a record of my details somewhere, and what he may be doing with them.

As a legitimate online business, I am legally obliged to have my contact details displayed on various websites, but sadly there are some deranged obsessives out there who use this information for nefarious reasons. It's a risk I have to take, but no matter what you do, there will always be some head-the-ball who decides to take things a step too far.

Claiming autism/aspergers/metal health issues may well be a reason, but it is no excuse. Some of these people are quite simply dangers to the greater good of society.

Trust me, I've had a run-in with one such character recently, but fortunately he was simply irratating for a while, but not quite clever enough to be truly deranged!

In the case of the OP, I'd be inclined to research a little more into online privacy laws and data-protection, then take things further with a cease and desist notice for example.
