Can anyone recommend a graphic design programme and any online courses on the software - my friend had an accident a few months ago which has rendered her unable to work - so she is looking into learning graphic design as she is very creative.
Any help would be appreciated

Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium is the daddy.
Dunno about courses but Im sure if you google it or even buy a book/guide.0 -
GIMP is free and very photoshop-esque, so worth a look, and there are online tutorials for it (not necessarily paid-courses)0

Your local college might offer Photoshop courses, also the benefit of being a student at a recognised educational establishment is that you qualify for the Adobe student discount. That means rather than paying £1512.25 for CS4 web premium, I only paid £228.85, a MASSIVE saving (I'm currently studying my teaching qualification so that I can teach computers at evening class to earn a little extra cash).
Might be worth a look at the prospectus's seeing as September is looming
