Need advice on purchasing watch from USA

yes but is it real or fake?
TBH - I would not pay for anything from over sea's over 40/50quid.
You have no real protection. Especially when you are bound by crazy T&C's like those above..........pay a little more for some security.

If you buy a watch from a shop in the UK you get a real printed purchase invoice/receipt showing dates and prices that validate your guarantee. These drop shipped watches are coming unboxed and you have no idea what sort of guarantee you will get with them in case you need to go to the manufacturer.
Looking at the feedback the seller won't even honour a guarantee within days, you'll have no comeback after months.

I've bought two Fossil watches from the US in the last six months. I've learned that the warranty, whilst international, needs a full receipt to be valid.
My receipt is a little, ahem, doctored, to show 'gift' and reduced price cost for customs purposes, so I've invalidated my warranty by that. I've been in touch with Fossil UK and they wanted a full receipt and warranty booklet - I have the latter but not the former!
However, the seller was very good and the watch arrived quickly. If you'd like to know the name of the seller PM me as they sell all manner of watches, not just Fossils.
At the end of the day, if a watch goes wrong it's very rare for it to go wrong in the first few years, which warranties only seem to cover.0 -

the seller was very good and the watch .
You may think that sellers who help you illegally smuggle goods into the UK are dong you a favour but, when they get caught, your name and address will be on their shipment list so you may get a "visit".
Smuggling isn't regarded as "legitimate money saving" and should not be encouraged on these boards. Offering other members the address of somebody willing to assist in it is not necessarily doing them a favour. Can I help?0 -
I have emailed the seller and he has assured me that a receipt will be provided in order to validate the insurance and that it will come fully boxed. I am willing to take the risk cos I cant really afford to fork out £125 quid and I really like this watch!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

I've no advice on your particular situation, but I bought a lovely DKNY watch for £50 inc P&P from Ebay a few months ago, from USA,I haven't seen one the same in UK but similar ones are well over £100.I didn't get any import taxes, and it arrived in just over a week,so was pleased that I took the risk.0

OP: good post #15 -- the problem with an American seller's false declaration is that the US nowadays is getting ever more Orwellian in protecting its 'homeland security', and especially in regard to what goes out / what goes in to the country. Post 9/11 America is a very different world to pre 9/11, for understandable reasons, and as I quite like the idea of being able to travel freely to the States for holidays as-and-when, I certainly wouldn't want to wind up on some kind of bizarre list put together by a federal agency which was stronger on paranoia than it was on fact.
Sadly, there've been plenty of instances in the US of trivial misdemeanours being mis-read by the powers-that-be; it might well be far-fetched ever to suppose that a genuine seller of watches could ever be mistaken for a national security threat on account of a phoney Customs declaration. . . but then again:(
(It's only last week that a US university student was arrested on campus for going to a fancy dress party as a Ninja Warrior -- the masked face was enough to set alarm bells ringing. . .)0 -

maniac...don't even know why you bothered asking for advice...since your responses show you had no intention OTHER than to buy the blessed watch. Absloutely pointless exercise imho........ when you ignore what people tell you...buy off a possible dropshipper... . And as for " I've e -mailed the seller and he assures me he'll send a receipt..."..and what if the receipt isn't acceptable to Diesel??? What about the warranty papers...and are you sure that he's selling a legit watch..and not a copy??? What will you do if the add-ons bring the cost up to £110 plus as soolin says?? Methinks you developed obsessive purchase syndrome over this watch...lol.
Let's hope it does stay okay...cos despite yr words...I doubt your guarantee will be valid.....
...and it's also on sale elsewhere in the EU from approved retailers at 149 euros.........inc p&p and insurance.
