Coping on Long haul flights with children
Comments

I'm glad you are concerned about the comfort of other passengers - I wish all parents who bring children on long haul were as considerate as you!
I think it stems from pre children and being stuck on a long haul with 2 devil children sat behind me - with parents who obviously had started their holiday early!!
Becles - will remember to pack their fave bribes
a few yoghurt raisins and jaffa cakes give 10 mins rest!
Stumpycat - thanks, will avoid phenegan if it can have that effect, I dont like giving them any medication unless they absolutley need it. I love your suggestion of them collecting bits to do a scrap book, my eldest loves things like that (he'll prob collect everything in sight lol)
Thanks again!0 -
we took our son to the US when he was 19 months, our daughter was 4 at the time and up to that point we wouldnt have dreamt of of going on a plane when she was that young. we were worried how she would cope with the flight, how we would keep her occupied, nappy changing and everything else. In the end we just booked it and worried about it right up to we got on the plane. We had two plane to get there and have to say it was the best thing we did.
We got up at 3am and they were both wide awake, the flight to Amsterdam was just them getting used to the plane and looking around. From Amsterdam to the US he slept for 3 hours and then by the time we ate and played with toys had another nap it was over.
On the way back was nearly the same just one small problem when my wife was rocking him to sleep over her shoulder and some bloke started to talk to him and squeeze his checks.
Did it again just before our sons 3rd birthday, no problems at all.
Take your own snacks, usual biscuits, fruit, paper and pens and a few small
toys
We also bought both of ours their own blanket one of the childrens types and a small case each to put their things in, worked really well.
Dont worry about it, the flight will be great and you will have a excellent holiday.0 -
Don't let the children kick the seat back in front of them.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
