Illegal parking sign

I received a PCN for parking in an area with the following sign.
flickr.com/photos/39877923@N08/3803288737/
The lower half of the sign was applicable, and should conform to diagram 661.1 of the regulations for such signs, however it does not.
The regulations (on the dft.gov.uk site) show the blue "P" symbol should be left aligned, a right aligned variant is not permitted. Should I appeal the PCN?

Based on your own argument that the sign would appear to be illegal...what do you think..?If you will the end, you must will the means.0

Did you mean this guide?

Then one suggest if you were a bus and you overstayed, ....0 -
Yes, just like that. I was a car.
Im wondering whether the sign relates only to buses, meaning can cars park here whenever?0 -
To me, if you're driving anything other than a bus, it means No Waiting, midnight to noon, except taxis. If you will the end, you must will the means.0

You say you parked there, even though only buses may park there.Jon_Whittaker wrote: »I parked there at 7.30pm
PCN was issued at 7.55pm.
So it was between noon and midnight (lower half of sign applicable)
I think where the sign says, 'No waiting midnight-noon', gives a clue that between noon & midnight, a car may WAIT but not park there. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

If there is a jobsworth throwing regulations at you, then why not just throw some back at them?0
