Car issues

When I went bankrupt, we had to provide details of my partners car because I had access to it and used it to get to and from work.
When I asked about this, given that the car is not mine, they stated that they wanted to run checks that the ownership of the car had not been transfered recently in an attempt to evade the OR. They did say however, that as the car was only worth £400 to £500 that they would not touch it anyway, even if it was mine and as I needed it for work, it would be silly to take it.
I would wait for the official line on this myself before making the decision about repairs and I certainly don't think that they need to know that these repairs are needed at present. I would reckon its a safe bet that they will let you keep the car and once everything has gone through and been agreed, theres nothing to say you cant sort the car out then. Its not an essential thing to notify them about in terms of a change in circumstances - yes it is a change, but not detrinmental to your bankruptcy. If anything, once everything has been agreed, you could give it a week (if poss for arguments sake) then ring them depending on what arrangements have been made(IPA etc) and explain that the car has had a catastrophic failure and that you need to finance repairs or replacement. The insolvency service/OR are quite understanding and do try to help where they can in these matters, they certainly did with me anyway. On the Keyboard of Life - Always Keep a finger poised over the Esc Key! :rotfl:0
