  • cheers mate will get onto that and yeah you are right about simply NO business!!!
  • SimplyBusiness? My experience too - a farcical parody of a business themselves. All of the "customer service" and flexibility of a factory-produced house brick.

Wouldn't it be great if we could legally have an online list of businessess somewhere (here) with a poll: worth bothering with versus don't waste your time.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to find the smallest and most local one-person broker I can and try there. Should have taken that approach in the first place really but spoilt and made lazy by the interwebnet thing in the days when companies still smiled at me and asked in sultry voices of there was anything, anything at all they could do for me...

whereas nowadays I'm fast getting used to banks, insurance "people" et al shouting ugh and poking me with a stick until I leave their offices ...

    !!!

  • Ive done it im undischarged and ive found a company called agean insurance which will insure but you gotta go thru a broker called coversure insurance in north ormsby in middlesbrough 5 million cover for 86.00 pounds:beer:
  • HI

I have sadly being made bankrupt and am also self employed. I have found SIS sale insurance based in manchester that specialise in all sorts of bankrupt insurance. Also Photoguard offered me a policy after checking with their underwriters.

Hope this helps anyone else in the same predicament.

A tip I was told is to obtain quotes before you go bankrupt, most companies hold the quotes for 3 months and will still honour them if you go bankrupt after the quote has been obtained.
  • I am a Broker and did get a mention earlier on in the thread, which was nice to see.

If you are a discharged bankrupt there are Insurers that will cover you, and most of the time the price will be usually very good. there are three kinds of Insurer where Bankruptcy is concerned.

The first is that insurance company that doesn't want to insure you because of your bankruptcy, they see you as a risk taker and that you may take risks where a non Bankrupt person may not. this may not be their full explanation but it is not important.

The second Insurer would be a company that looks at a bankruptcy and will quote but they will factor in the greater risk, this insurer is usually a lot more expensive than your off the shelf policy. sometimes this insurer saves the situation when no one else will quote and you will be glad of the cover even at the dearer price.

The third insurers are usually only found by using a local Broker, they are the insurer that are building up their book of business and for what ever reason they are looking to fill their book. this insurer will automatically decline to insure you. However If your broker knows his stuff he will phone the Insurer up and speak with an underwriter, that underwriter will assess the details of the bankruptcy, and if the details are acceptable the underwriter will allow the policy. that means that you will get a policy with an off the shelf price and who are accepting your adverse history.

In short If you have a Bankruptcy do not waste your time crawling the internet, Call your Local Broker who may offer you the best service.

    I hope this helps
