Recorded Item showing still at PO - item sent 30th July

Hi

I've recently started selling on ebay, I post anything over about £30 recorded delivery and get proof of postage on everything. Because I'm ve been selling a lot, I alternate between 2 Post Office's cos they get really moody with me going in there with 5 parcels at a time (it's always quiet when I go).

Anyway, I had one item which I sold for about £35 so sent it recorded on the 30th July. I hadn't received any feedback so thought I'd track the item - it says 'It has been received at the PO' but nothing else.
This indicates to me it is still at the PO, I don't want to contact the buyer yet but will go to PO tomorrow.

Just wondered where I stand - will I get anything if it is indeed still at PO?

Not really sure what to do

TIA x

Where does the time go?

RD has a really bad failure rate for getting a signature. If your buyer hasnt contacted you by now they have probably received it. If they havnt you would be able to claim. So I wouldn't contact your buyer they would have told you if had not arrived

I never send anything below £39 recorded as Proof of posting will cover up to this amount and it helps keep postage costs down (you will find a lot of sellers do this) Anything above £39 gets sent special delivery(so it is insured enough). I do not have any more claims for item not received than I used to. When I used to send recorded I found that almost 30% never got a signature so decided it was a waste of money.

Thanks bob - I'll wait and see if they contact me to say it's not arrived.

I didn't know proof of postage covered up to the £39 - whenever I ask for it, I just get the address written on the receipt is that OK to claim or do I need to get the official one completed each time?

God help me if I give the assistant anything else to do! :rotfl:

The address written on the receipt is proof of postage. Its replacing the hadnwritten proof of postage cards.

I have had loads of items just lately come up and say they are at the PO even though I then check and they have arrived. There must be some kind of tracking problem that they aren't tracking them after they leave the PO

That correct you can still get the handwritten ones though. If I have a lots to send (I sometimes have 30 or 40 a day) I fill in the handwritten ones (they will still give you those) at home then they just stamp it. It means they don't get too peeved

Some post office workers prefer the handwritten ones as they can just stamp it but at the crown po some will see you have 20 parcels and written them all out on the paper proof of postage then tell you that they are worthless and insit on paper receipt for each one so it takes ages as they find the address on the system.

hence you double check address on RM website and make sure it matches the system before posting
