Samsung Movies / Clickandbuy

Back in May Samsung welcomed me to the movies and I watched The Changeling for 99p. I had to subscribe to Clickandbuy to make it happen and I thought Clickandbuy sounded much the same as Pay Pal. But, while Pay Pal deposits a small amount of cash into your bank account so that you can verify it (and takes you through a process before it can do so - advising you of that process to ensure that you are informed of exactly what will occur), Clickandbuy actually helps itself to your account and two payments - one of £1.71 and one of £1.76 were charged to my credit card account. There certainly was no process of ensuring that I was informed (there might have been a mention of it in the dozens of T & C pages available read when registering). I have contacted Clickandbuy to ask for a refund but they did not reply. Clickandbuy have contacted me to tell me that my credit card expired and to tell me to register a new one. I asked if they would impose more charges to register the new on but they did not reply.
I contacted Samsung but they really did not want to know and told me to contact Clickandbuy.
I thought there may have been an option to watch more films at Samsung as my Clickandbuy account is, apparently, in credit by the two amounts but, unfortunately, Samsung's movies site now results in an error message: "Server Error in '/' Application."

I just had a look and the first time you click on the option to fund via a credit card a call out box appears and clearly states that a charge will be placed on your card.0 -

Did you read the call out? It states "When you register to pay by credit / debit card, a temporary reservation amount of £2.50 is placed on your card. It is merely a pending transaction and will not be debited to your account".0 -
I've just seen how complicated it is to sign up:
4. Credit card confirmation process - To start the process, simply click on the button 'Charge me confirmation amounts'. Please note that when you click on the button ClickandBuy will charge your credit card with two random amounts between 1.00 GBP and 1.99 GBP.
5. Confirm the two charges by ClickandBuy. To do this call your credit card institution or check your credit card statements for these amounts. Note that the charge transaction may take up to 3 business days.
6. As soon as you are able to see the charges on your credit card statement, log back into your ClickandBuy account with your email address registered with ClickandBuy and your password.
7. Use the tab to switch to the Settings area and click on the menu item Payment methods from the left-hand navigation bar.
8. Click once again on the Confirm link next to your credit card details. A page will be displayed, on which you will be prompted to enter only the decimal place values of each charge displayed on your statement.
9. Enter the two amounts as shown on the picture of the instructions and click on the Next button.
10.Your credit card should have been confirmed with ClickandBuy after this procedure.
Please note: The charges on your credit card statement may be in a different currency from the one required on the last confirmation page described above. If your credit card statement does not display the original transaction amounts in the required currency, you will have to contact your credit card company. They should be able to tell you the amounts of the two charges in the original currency.
I wonder which moron devised this system.0 -

Obviously not closely enough, so apologies for that.:silenced:
One beer too many and skim reading the call out methinks0 -
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately my credit card expired and clickandbuy have invited me to register my new card - and they will charge again to confirm the new card! I don't think I'll hurry to do that.0

I told Samsung that "click and buy seem to be a rip off version of pay pal" and Samsung said they are aware of the problem and it will be resolved within 48 hours. I can't wait..
... I also informed Samsung that I had created a thread here0 -
Samsung have indicated that they will send me a cheque refund. I will be relieved when it arrives - and must remember not to have anything to do with Click & Buy!0

A cheque for £4.50 arrived with an apologetic letter. Also, Samung have emailed me to advise that an £11 voucher is available for me watch movies online at samsung movies site. I will be off to look for that voucher shortly - perhaps it's in my profile (with a voucher code?).
Still - looks like a good result.0
