Gherkin? Cucumber?
Hi
I bought a courgette plant at my local garden centre 2 months ago and planted it out. When it started to grow I got a little suspicious that it wasn't courgette as it didn't spread it just climbed. Two minths on and it is definitely not courgette. It has green 'things' about 6 inches long with spikes!
Is it a gherkin plant or if I let it grow may they turn into cucumbers???
Thanks, as you can tell I am still a learner!

hi kaja86
This has happened to me too! One of the 'courgette' plants that I bought didn't turn out like the others but has climbed more like a vine. Only two of the small fruits have developed though it has had lots of flowers - nearly all of which appeared to have been female. They don't seem to have grown much bigger for a while (about 4 inches) so I was considering trying one! Assuming it is a cucumber plant, I am not really sure how to look after it.0 -
Just had a taste of the one i snapped off and it tastes like cucumber??!!

It sounds like a cucumber to me. Mine are full of little spikes and when they start to grow they are curled round. I just feed them with the same tomato feed I use on my tomatoes & peppers. I have to say in defence of where you bought it, I got a lot of my pumpkins, cucs, melons and courgettes mixed up and they all look the same when they are tiny.0
