Yes, any Cisco router/firewall will be very much different from your average Linksys router. Totally different ends of the spectrum. Still, a great router given the OpenWRT and similar firmwares available."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

wolfman wrote:Can be quite a common problem with the Netgear DG834xx range. As far as I can see it's firmware related. My DG834GT has been great since the v1.02 firmware release, but before that there were months of frustration and tweaking trying to make it stable. Definitely tainted my opinion of Netgear, but at the moment I'm happy with my DG834GT.
I have a DG834G and like it but have moved house and need a bit more range (and a bit more speed would be nice as well) and am considering the DG834GT to give me better range.
In terms of range/speed do people see a marked improvement in the DG834GT when compared to the DG834G?
Also heard about the Netgear RangeMax but don't know if it is any good?
Any other recommendation in terms of wireless router with better range over the DG834G?
Any suggestions? It is not MY fault that I never learned to accept responsibility!0 -
It won't make any difference to your surfing speed (which is less than 54).Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Another LINKSYS user - WAG354G - no problems - drives my desktop and my daughter's upstairs and other daughter's laptop when she comes to visit.0

One thing to be aware of, the DG834G based routers do not support the multicasting that the BBC is using to transmit it's channels over the internet http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/. That may change with a firmware update though.
