Very expensive airport parking - will it get cheaper?

You could stay at the marriot hotel which is on airport with parking for £164.00.
I might ring them and see what they say if the price doesn't come down in the next few weeks.
Staying overnight is not a great option (sorry if I sound so negative to suggestions - I really do appreciate them) as we don't fly until almost 7pm and have plenty of time to get to the airport during the Saturday.
Also, hotel & parking usually only gives you 15 days parking and we want 23 days so they charge the additional 8 days at 'gate price' which was £8 + per day at one of the hotels I looked at.

Sorry, didn't look at the dates, just thouigh it was for two weeks.0

Hello - might be worth looking at site "parkatmyplace" where ordinary folk rent out their drives etc. There's lots of Gatwick options0

Sorry it's "parkatmyhouse"0

Thanks Mrs Thrifty. :T
I've had a look at this and it's definitely an option worth considering if the dates I want don't come down in price.
It's not actually that cheap compared to what I've paid for 23 days in November (£75 including transfers to the airport) as some charge £25 - £30 per week plus the cost of a taxi but certainly better than paying £160.
Thanks to all who've replied.0 -
Hi
I just thought I'd update this in case it helps someone else.
I've just checked again and I can now get parking from 20/2/10 to 13/3/10 as cheap as £64.60 (without cancellation protection) or £72.79 for Long Stay - which is MUCH more acceptable than the £170.20 offered a month ago.
So, I guess sometimes it pays to wait.
I just have to decide what to spend the £100 saving on. :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the update Pollycat, even though it is all rather baffling! (I had no idea that the cost of parking would fluctuate)0

Such a huge difference in price. I usually park at NCP (Flightpath) long stay at LGW North and find them around the £75 mark, however, I always find that if I check the price again within 24 hours of departure, it's normally gone down by about £8, so I then phone them up and they re-imburse the difference. This is obviously not on the restricted prices they offer.0

Pollycat, with a 6pm landing and then 200 miles to drive, have you considered a hotel stop at the END of the holiday rather than the beginning ? This would still qualify for the parking and transfers to the airport.
Have a look at this site.
It works out at £113 (for a double room) with 23 nights parking and they run 24 hour transportation. (both ways, some only do one way and you have to rely on a taxi). £40 more than your parking quote and a relaxed night before the drive home.

£64 is about as cheap as you're ever going to get it for that duration at Gatwick. I'd book it now - it'll only go up0
