Withdrawing and spending abroad

Hi there,
I've read a lot of the articales about what's best to use abroad and i think i've come to some good conclusions, but i wanted to check it with the experts first. See if i've got everything right (i'm going to india):
Spending:
Use my HSBC mastercard credit card to make purchases.
Withdrawing:
use my nationwide red flex account cashcard (NON-visa) to get money out
problems:
i'm on holiday in india for 3 weeks. If i buy something on my credit card on the first day am i right in thinking i have 30 days to make minimum payments?
ALSO, i have a measly £250 limit maybe cos im a student does that mean my maximum transaction is £250 OR is it that the sum of my transactions should not exceed £250?
and regarding the flex account i was reading this forum post about how machines dont seem to be working for the red flex account cash cards.

Has anyone heard similar stories?
EDIT: forgot to check that the nationwide cash card gives me free withdrawals abroad?
thanks.

You have 30 days from the date of your statement to make a payment
The sum of your transactions must not exceed £250
That particular card makes no charge.0 -

1. I think it is 25 to 26 days.
2. Correct.
3. It is correct that there are no withdrawal or foreign exchange charges, but not every machine is on the Cirrus network.
So you may have to search for a compatible machine.0 -
right ok
thanks very much for everyones help0 -
You have up to 56 days to make the minimum payment. For example, if you make a purchase one day after the cut off date for your statement, you will have nearly two months before you have to pay for that item. i.e.: Thirty days until the statement is produced and then up to 26 days before you need to pay.
So call HSBC to find out the cut off date of your statements.0
