You don't need to show a credit card, but they usually ask you to confirm your address.

We have just returned from a Travelodge in the Lakes for 2 nights and they asked for confirmation of our address when we booked in. We handed the key back to the receptionist in the morning and when we returned in the evening we were asked again for our address.

I use T/Ls all around the country and have ALWAYS been asked for the first line of my address when checking in.

And of late, when I have booked sale rooms as separate bookings to follow on from each other, I have had to get my keycard re energised each day and again have always had to confirm my address.

As others have said, there is the very real danger of your room getting trashed in your name - so all in all, don't attempt to sell a room on.

Bought sensibly T/L rooms are pretty cheap - having to write one off is surely not the end of the world, but being charged for damage and possibly banned from using T/L could be.
  • I have sold pre-paid rooms on, but only to friends and work colleagues who I trust. Never has been a problem.

Yes, but if anything that's just to confirm they've got the right person. It's not at all unusual to have someone with the same name staying in the same hotel as you. It's happened to me quite a few times.

You cannot transfer or resell your booking (in whole or in part). If you transfer or resell (or attempt to transfer or resell) then Travelodge will terminate your booking and retain any money paid to us for such booking. We may also refuse to take any further booking from you in the future.

Interesting to read this thread, I might not be able to go to a Muse gig in London in November and may sell my ticket (by the fan forum not ebay)

Ive also got a £19 Travelodge room that night and had thought of selling it for £19 if any Muse fans on the forum wanted it or on ebay.

Good point that if the rooms trashed you may get a charge/ban off Travelodge.

If I dont go I would write off the £19 as a safer bet!

A close friend has said she might buy the room off me if I dont go - I feel this would be fine as I know/trust her.

Er no................I have a 3 letter surname which is very unusual, the chances of more than just my party having the same booked name are virtually nil.

this must be a new rule in the T&C..as just a few years ago i used to book 2 rooms for some coaching events a year in advance. Hence cheap deal as rooms sold out quick. Then offered a place to stay to others in the same coaching event, making a little profit! One time i could not make a coaching event and checked with TL if my friend could access the room under my booking - they said it was okay and confirmed in an email under the contact us section. Obviously this has changed now. I would do this again but as long as i was present and knew the people were not complete strangers.
  • Contact them, they may be able to transfer into a different name for a small admin fee?
